Patchwork Heart

She's the girl that believes that
what comes around
goes around.
The one that hopes for a better day.
The one that won't give up
on you.
She's the girl that's unlike the rest.
The one that spent her days smiling,
and her nights crying.
She's the girl that would love
to be loved.
The one that looks so damn stong,
but feels so weak.
She's the girl that picks herself up
every time she falls.

Friday with Friends

It's been awhile
I have a lot to share with you but it will
have to wait until next week because
today is the last installment of my
Friday with Friends feature.

at least for now anyway....

So this week I am featuring Renee Sendelbach
from Embracing Life Love & Art...

Hi all -

It is so exciting to be able to take part in the blog feature series,

A little bit about me:
I am a stage IV breast cancer "thriver", wife, mommy, artist, friend
and so much more.
I try my hardest to listen to the small whispers of my heart on a daily basis
and more importantly - follow those whispers as I beleive that is how
God communicates with us...
through our hearts.

I am a firm believer in God and that we should all strive to be how Jesus was -
loving to all, compassionate, giving, empathetic, understanding and
so much more.

I started painting mixed media canvases about a year ago.
I had dabbled in card making and scrapbooking
(which I have still yet to complete a whole book...
that is a whole other story!)
and took a lot of the tools I had for those two hobbies to create my canvas -
a name canvas for my son.

I posted a picture of if on Facebook, and I had 6 friends message me
almost instantly asking if they could purchase one like it
 for their child's room.
At first I was hesitant -
I was still going through full-out chemo and didn't know if this
was what I should be doing.
Then, there it was -
my heart whispering to me...
"DO IT!!"

Then I started dabbling more into painting and fell head
over heals in love with it.

Since then, I decided I want to create affordable
inspirational mixed-media art for all.

I have several lines I am currently working on:
My Cancer Love Girls:

These firls represent so much to me.
They are a way to show hope, grace, strength and so much more
through the journey of cancer.
I have had so many people buy these and give them as gifts to friends/family
members going through their own cancer journey and have said that this
was the best gift they could have given.

Project Sending Love:

These are postcards created from original works.
It is my dream to have all of us tell each other on a daily basis how much
we love one another,
why someone is important to you,
what that person does to make this world a better place
and so much more.
With Project Sending Love it makes that easy to do with fun postcards.

I hope you have enjoyed this litte journey into who I am and why I do this.
Please visit me at my blog:

I love customer work, so please feel free to email me at

With Love,

Stop by and visit Renee this weekend...
Stop by here next week to see what's new in my world.

Remember to color outside the lines....

Photo A Day and a Give A Way

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July.
I spent the majority of the day at the pool.
I would say by the pool, but technically I spent more time IN
the pool because it is still very hot here.

This isn't my normal Friday with Friends post because
it happens to be my week!!! That means I am being featured
this week on the other participants blogs. YAY!!
What an honor it is that these ladies have taken
time to share my story.

I am so excited to have all of the visitors to my blog
and I hope you like what you see and
choose to follow me.

Drum roll please........

In celebration of being the spotlighted blog this week,
I am holding a give-a-way.

I am giving away this Hand Tooled, Hand Stamped and Hand Distressed
Leather Cuff.
In order to enter just leave me a comment on this post
saying hello and telling me how you found my blog.
I will hold a random draw on the morning of Thursday July 12,
so you have until midnight Wednesday July 11 to enter.

I also wanted to share a really cool idea that I came across the other
day while spending some quality wasting hours on Pinterest

It is a Photo A Day challenge.  You can get the full details here on
Bottom line is that it makes you pay more attention to the world
around you while you are keeping an eye out for
something to take a picture of on any given day.

It is also fun to see how everyone else interprets the prompt for the day.

You choose where and how you want to share your photos.  I have
decided to post mine on Instagram.

This is my photo from yesterday, the prompt was "fun"

Let me know if you decide to join in...
I would love to see how you choose your photos.

Make sure that you also check out my Facebook page and
my Etsy shop. You can also follow me on Pinterest and Instagram if you like.

Good Luck to you all and thanks for stopping by.

HOT Summer Days....

Just like much of the country we had been having many days
that reach and exceed 100 + degrees.

So what does one do to stay cool during these times....
Mostly stay inside...
Create Art...
Create new recipes...
anything that will keep us out of the heat.

I am lucky enough to have a weekly farmer's market just up the street from me.
Each Saturday from June - October local farmers and other
vendors come together on the square and sell what they have to offer.

I have stopped by for the last 2 weeks in a row and picked up some great items.
Last week it was tomatoes, flowers, radishes, dog treats, local honey and bread.
This week it was corn (the sweetest ever), peaches, beans, tomatoes and more bread.

I have to tell you that the homemade bread is to die for!!
I have never been a huge fan of peaches, but these are so sweet and juicy, just picked
and boxed up to take to the market.
While standing in line, yes there was a line just
to get the peaches, you could smell them....

They must be good if at 9:15 they were already almost sold out.

Since it was already 90 degrees yesterday morning while I was doing
a little shopping, I decided to indulge in a popsicle.

In Atlanta we have a street vendor called
They are known for their gourmet pops.

They make the pops using only seasonal ingredients
and they are available during a limited time period.

You can see a list of the flavors here.

(photos via FB)

I went for the Lemon Basil Pop.

It was so refreshing and light.
It is shown in the picture above
directly in the middle.

After I got home I started thinking (scary I know)
about how can I take that wonderful flavor
and make a drink out of it.....

so the Lemon Basil Water was born
I am sure that I am not the first person
to make this, so technically it was already born
but you get the idea.

I took 2 lemons, basil, 1 cup water and 5-6 tbs sugar
and made a simple syrup.

(one of the lemons lost it's zest yesterday for a salad)

(I also used some of the purple basil too that was in my flower arrangement
from the market, see above)

Bring everything to boil, simmer for 5-10 minutes, remove from heat and let steap
for about 30 minutes. Viola...

The simple syrup can be added to sparkling water and
you have the most refreshing drink

I hope you are all finding a great way to stay cool this summer!!

Friday with Friends Blog Hop Week 4

It's that time again...

This week's Friday with Friends blog is

Linda Pinda is a mixed-media/abstract artist who lives in the
heart of southern New England.
Linda's work often relects her faith, love of children,
and the wonder and whimsies of life.

Her husband and business partner, Michael, is a musician.
Together, they are raising six children in their humble home,
which has come to be known as Glitter and Grunge Studio.

Their children have all inherited musical and artistic talents,
and every day becomes quite the melodic beautiful mess.

The signature of Linda's work is the texture and grunginess,
which represents for her all the gorgeous age and history of life
and the world about her.  But is touched ever so
gently with a hint of glitter representing light and love.

Linda's work can be found at
